Frequently Asked Questions
(1) What are film tables, and why do I need to update by Color Film Recorder's film tables?
Film tables are exposure curves used by the Color Film Recorder (CFR) to produce balanced color output with each different film type. Each type of film responds differently to the light sources used by CFR's. The exposure curves in a film table balances out these differences to ensure balanced color output. Film companies update their films frequently. Each new updated version of a film requires an updated film table to ensure that the CFR will continue to produce balanced color output on that film. In the past, these new film tables were produced and released by the CFR manufacturers. Unfortunately, many CFR manufacturers aren't producing these updated film tables anymore. Without balanced color, a CFR is not very useful. CFR Film Table Commander is the only product that will specifically let you edit Polaroid ProPalette 7000 and 8000 series film tables.
(2) What versions of Polaroid CFR's do you support?
ProPalette 7000 and 8000 series Propalettes are all supported by CFR Film Table Commander. Older models, such as the HR6000 and CI 5000 are not supported.
(3) Does CFR Film Table Commander work with Mac film tables?
No, unfortunatley CFR Film Table only runs on a PC and only works with the PC version of ProPalette film tables.
(4) What film formats does CFR Film Table Commander support?
It support all film formats that the CFR supports (35mm, 120, 4x5).
(5) To ajust color output of the CFR, can I just adjust my image instead of trying to adjust my film table?
You could, but you get much higher quality results by modifying the film table. Images printed from the CFR are generally 8 bits/pixel, but the internal bit depth of film tables is much higher.
(6) What controls are available for adjusting the colors of existing film tables?
CFR Film Table Commander has several controls for adjusting color. These include a simple exposure control, a curves control, calibration target control, and more.
